Tonto is a fresh, cloudy banana beer made in Uganda, particularly in banana-growing communities of the central and western regions. It is not simply mashed banana left to ferment. Historical context
The region lay within the British Uganda Protectorate, while the 1900 Buganda Agreement reshaped landholding and colonial administration.
